The iDD Model MDU50662-1 Inline Carbonation System & PHE Inline Chiller is a commercial-grade system used in the beverage industry (such as breweries, wineries, or soda fountains) to continuously and precisely carbonate a liquid product. The system combines two main functions: 

Inline Carbonation System 

This component infuses carbon dioxide (CO2)directly into the liquid stream as it flows through the system. 

• Process: Liquid is pumped into a pressurized chamber where CO2 is injected and dissolved into the fluid. The high pressure and a controlled flow rate allow the CO2 to dissolve rapidly and efficiently, creating a consistent level of carbonation.
• Advantage: Unlike batch carbonation methods, an inline system provides a continuous, on-demand supply of carbonated beverage, making it suitable for high-volume commercial applications. 

PHE Inline Chiller 

PHE stands for Plate Heat Exchanger. This integrated chiller component is crucial for the carbonation process: 

• Function: It chills the liquid before or during the carbonation process. Carbon dioxide dissolves much more readily and efficiently in colder liquids (typically around 34-40°F or 1-4°C).
• Mechanism: The PHE uses a series of plates to transfer heat from the beverage to a separate refrigerant or glycol loop without the two fluids mixing. This ensures the beverage reaches the optimal cold temperature for efficient CO2 absorption.
• Benefit: The chilling action maximizes the stability and consistency of the dissolved CO2 in the final product.
